Nanostructured Bimetallic Oxides and Intermetallic Compounds Containing f-Block Elements

 

We continued our work on the preparation nanoparticles and nanofibers of intermetallic compounds and bimetallic oxides containing f-block elements, copper or nickel by electrospinning. This reproducible and low cost route enables the production of nanostructured catalysts, whose expected high surface areas and tunable surface properties bring benefits to their catalytic properties, and was applied in the production of value added products, such as methanol, using primary pollutants, such as CH4, CO2 or N2O as reagents. The Figure shows the characterization of 6SmCoO3.8Co3O4 bimetallic oxide nanoparticles obtained by electrospinning after oxidation treatments at 600 and 900 oC (i and ii, respectively); background: SEM image obtained after oxidation at 900 oC.
