Production of Methanol Using CO2 and CH4 as Raw Materials

 

Production of methanol is achieved in a continuous high pressure flow reactor using methane, carbon dioxide and hydrogen as reagents at 250 oC and 25-80 bar. The results confirm the potentialities of the bimetallic oxides and intermetallic compounds containing f-block elements as catalysts, especially when compared with the behavior of a commercial Cu methanol synthesis catalyst. The Figure shows methanol synthesis over nanoparticles of copper bimetallic oxides containing f block elements at 250 oC, 50 bar, GHSV = 40000 mL CO2/g.h using CO2 and CH4 as feedstock.
