TOOLS AND MEASURES TO IMPROVE AIR QUALITY AND TO ACCELERATE THE TRANSITION TO LOW-CARBON EMISSIONS
NET group is working in the development of tools and measures to improve air quality and to accelerate the transition to low-carbon emissions in several sector of the economy.
The main objective of LIFE Index-Air project (www.lifeindex-air.net), coordinated by NET, is to incorporate outdoor and indoor air quality data and a package of models to develop an innovative and versatile decision support tool for policy makers that will help them identify measures to improve air quality and quantitatively assess their impact on the health and well-being of the population. The tool will consider a chain of events, from emissions to the atmosphere until health impacts, passing through exposure and inhaled dose and it will be implemented in several European cities.
ClimACT project (www.climact.net), also coordinated by NET, aims to support the transition to a low carbon economy in schools. This Interreg Sudoe project is developing and implementing tools and methodologies to support schools managers, energy and environment players and students in the identification of intelligent solutions for schools management that consider energy efficiency, renewable energy use, respect for the environment, private and external costs, financial support mechanisms and human behaviors. The products of this project are being implemented in 35 pilot schools from Portugal, Spain, France and Gibraltar.
The Interreg Med REMEDIO project (www.remedio.interreg-med.eu) aims to promote the use of low carbon transport systems, acting on the improvement of cities’ management and it will be implemented in five European cities.
