C2TN wins the 2022 Armed Forces Innovation Award

Major Luís Marques, member of C2TN and PhD student at IST, received the Armed Forces Innovation Award 2022 with the work Gamma radiation detection system, beta particles and neutrons coupled to a multirotor for inspection of maritime containers and detection, location and identification of radioactive sources and materials.

The Armed Forces Innovation Award aims to promote innovation, improve capabilities and planning, following the evolution of research and development activities in the area of ​​military sciences and defence technologies and, at the same time, promote a closer connection between the Armed Forces, the industry and the academic community.

This year the award was dedicated to “Autonomous Systems”, including air, land, surface or submersible maritime systems, control or decision support platforms, with applicability in military operations and/or in support of civil emergency operations.

Congratulations to Major Luís Marques for reaching the 1st place in this prestigious award, as well as the supervisors Dr. Pedro Vaz and Prof. Alberto Vale (IPFN and DEEC).
