Erasmus+ Mobility Programme

Professor Yongxia Sun from Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology (INCT, Poland) visited C2TN under the Erasmus+ Programme in October 2023 to work in Laboratory of Technological Assays in Clean Rooms. During this visit, Professor Yongxia could study the degradation of diclofenac, a popular non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs) by electron-beam radiation using different conditions. The study also included the identification of the microbial isolates that have grown on the treated diclofenac solutions. The preliminary findings supported the use of electron-beam to treat municipal wastewaters for the degradation of recalcitrant pharmaceutical products, besides highlighting the potentiality of biodegradation of treated wastewater.
