IMPROVEMENT OF THE CTF PRACTICE: DOSE REDUCTION
Study and identification of the necessary technical parameters of radiological examinations: (a) Mammography; (b) Fluoroscopy in Computed Tomography or fluoro-CT guided procedures (CTF); (c) Interventional Radiology;
Characterization of thermoluminescence detectors for Dosimetry applications: (a) LiF:Mg,Ti (TLD-100) and LiF:Mg,Cu,P (TLD-100H) for fluoro-CT, as well as Li2B4O7:Mg,Cu (TLD-800) and Li2B4O7:Cu for mammography;
Assessment of the occupational exposure of the interventional radiologist, team and patient in radiological examinations based on thermoluminesncence detectors and other methods;
Characterization and optimization of practices and procedures aimed at occupation exposure minimization;
Dose to the dominant hand of the interventional radiologist (colour grade to guide the eye): (a) extremity detectors in a special glove; (b) before the use of needle holders; (c) with needle holder. Results extrapolated for 78 procedures (biopsies of lung, bone, etc). Output of the Dose distribution and Monte-Carlo simulations in Fluoro-CT guided procedures project.
