RadAR – a citizen project on radon management

The RadAR project, coordinated by the C2TN researcher Nuno Canha in collaboration with the Portuguese Environment Agency, has won funding in a call for citizen science projects promoted by the European project RadoNorm (www.radonorm.eu). The RadAR project is a citizen science project on radon management, officially supported by Ciência Viva.

RadAR “Students as key players in radon management” will involve 60 high school students from 3 high schools in the district of Portalegre, integrated in a school science project, to empower them to design and implement a local communication strategy that will lead the community to measure their dwellings (target: 300 dwellings) and to take action to reduce indoor radon exposure in cases where high concentrations are found.
